S-A-N-S

SANS is a groundbreaking new eco-fashion line based in NYC. Comprised of designer Lika Volkova and sustainable production veteran Alessandro De Vito, SANS pushes the envelope with innovative shapes in sustainable materials such as bamboo, tussah silk and organic cotton and wool. SANS may well be the perfect name for this line, as it is not only “without” the pesticides and chemicals that often go into traditional textiles, but also “without” the frills and the trappings of trends.

Concentric Love

Found on etsy.com, the best marketplace for independant design out there, this 'circles and circles wool scarf' by eninaj is not only aesthetically pleasing & stylish, but also very practical for late Winter - early Spring.

eninaj, created by Israeli based artist Janine Golbert, offers a variety of handmade treats, most of which seem to feature a concentric nature. With the cirle being my favorite of shapes, it's inevitable that I find a sincere attraction to her designs.

Jump Around!

If there's one (or 5 in my case) article of clothing that my closet cannot do without, it's definitely the jumper. My own collection, ranging in a variety of styles from babydoll to high waist, has become a wardrobe fixture that will always serve my need for cuteness accompanied by comfort.

Shabd Simon-Alexander's jumper, pictured above, is simple, yet eye catching with its geometric pieced detailing along the hemline. Versatility is a strongpoint for this adorable frock, which lends a variety of styling options to fashionistas with a flare for femininity.

Simon-Alexander's Milagro necklace collection should also not be overlooked. Her 'Bronchitis' design (pictured to your right), is my personal favorite. Made of fabric, thread & chain, these organic designs bring an interesting beauty to the maladies re-created in such a unique form. Be sure to check out her website, www.shabdismyname.com, to see more of her clothing & jewelry designs, alongside her equally as brilliant collection of textile arts, drawings & installations.

Introduction

Dressing is a form of creative expression that most of us have in common. To me, good fashion is not about covering yourself with the latest trends or about impressing anyone other than yourself. It's about feeling comfortable in your own skin and, of course, in your clothes. It's about allowing a part of who you are inside exist visually.

I'll personally take a fabulous thrift store find or a one-of-a-kind handmade design over a mass produced sweat shop creation anyday! Sans Labels (meaning: without labels) is a place to showcase lesser known independant designers that deserve mad props and to help promote sustainable style in all its ecologically friendly & creative forms.

Here, I'll be posting features on my favorite DIY & Indie designers, I'll be giving shout-outs to my creative dressing friends and I'll be sharing pictures of my own handmade creations and anything else fashionably interesting that I come across that needs to be seen.

If you are an independant designer who would like to be featured here, PLEASE contact me and tell me about yourself! If you are a creative dresser who wants to show off your ensembles, send me pictures of your latest looks! All submissions can be sent to sanslabels@gmail.com.
